Dear Maiden Lane Church Family,
In January, Katie Curtis joined us as the ML Kids Intern and has faithfully served our kids and families during an important season of transition. Katie willingly stepped into responsibilities that would have overwhelmed most interns. She has faithfully cared for our children, supported our volunteers, and helped lead with dedication. Katie is completing her education, and we have committed to and look forward to a second internship with Katie at Maiden Lane through the end of the year.
As we have prayed about the future of our church family, we have also been asking God to provide the right leadership to help us partner with young families as they disciple their children to know, love, and follow Jesus daily.
It is with great excitement that we announce that Bethany Birkhead has accepted the position of ML Kids Pastor. She will begin in her new position on Sunday, August 2. Bethany, her husband Andrew, and their three children have been a part of the Maiden Lane family for more than a year. After spending time with Bethany, hearing her heart for children and families, and seeing God's hand throughout this process, we are confident that He brought the right person to Maiden Lane.
Bethany will serve part-time, providing pastoral leadership and oversight for ML Kids while also investing in Katie as she completes her internship with Maiden Lane. We believe God has provided Maiden Lane with a unique opportunity to welcome an experienced and ordained pastor to our staff who brings both wisdom and a deep passion for helping children and families grow in their relationship with Jesus.
In addition to serving at Maiden Lane, Bethany also serves as the Co-Director at H.O.P.E., a local ministry dedicated to helping young people and families connect with God. Her experience, heart for discipleship, and perspective will not only strengthen our ML Kids Ministry but will also bring a valuable voice to our staff leadership team.
This next season gives Katie the opportunity to serve alongside an experienced pastor, continue developing her gifts, and gain valuable ministry experience through intentional mentoring. Investing in emerging leaders is an important part of how we make disciples, and we are thankful to continue walking alongside Katie as God shapes her calling.
Together, we will continue creating a ministry where children encounter the love of Jesus and become everyday followers of Jesus. Under Bethany’s leadership, we hope to see children grow in their understanding of God's Word while building meaningful relationships with caring leaders. Our staff and volunteers remain committed to partnering with and equipping families in our church and throughout our community as they disciple children.
Join us as we celebrate God’s faithfulness, honor Katie’s continued impact in ministry, and welcome Bethany as she begins her new role as ML Kids Pastor. We look forward for all that is ahead as we continue partnering with families to help kids know, love, and follow Jesus.
