Share: A Special Father's Day Podcast

This Father's Day we sat down with Bill Bruns and Mo Carpenter. Our conversation offers a powerful reminder that discipling our children is not about perfection, but about authentic faith lived out daily. We hear from fathers at different life stages who emphasize that our kids learn more from what they see us do than from what we tell them to do. The journey begins with meeting Jesus ourselves, then creating intentional space in our busy lives to prioritize our families over our careers and exhaustion. The two talk about how the drive home from work becomes an important transition where we leave behind stress and prepare to be fully present so that they do not give their children their leftovers. But, are instead, present and available the moment they walk in the door of their home. We discover that being transparent about our own spiritual struggles, apologizing when we fall short, and showing humility actually strengthens our children's faith rather than weakening it. The thread running through this discussion is clear: we must pour into ourselves through daily time in Scripture so we can pour into our families. Whether we feel qualified or not, resources exist to guide us, mentors are available to walk alongside us, and most importantly, God meets us where we are. The question we must ask ourselves is not whether we are perfect spiritual leaders, but whether we are willing to be authentic followers of Jesus in front of those who watch us most closely.
